and are listed chronologically by events.
Veldyn
110,000 words
2004, undergoing rewrites
Prince Veldyn of the Seraphs is cursed with prescience; he can see the future,
nightmarish visions in which his brother and nephews lie slain and the rest of his
people turned into slaves and taken to a distant shore.  He's desperate to rid
himself of these visions, even if it means killing himself to do it.

Lord Maddren still speaks the ancient, forgotten tongue of the Seraphs, and may
be Veldyn's only hope to tame his telepathic gifts.  For Maddren's son, the
outspoken and impatient Healer Feisal, Veldyn is the chance he needs to prove to
his colleagues that healing takes more than the telepathic gift of dennar.   He
saves Veldyn's life by employing every innovative technique he knows; herbalry,
touch, and love.

Torn by loyalty to his only living relative, his brother King Arwyn, and nearly
driven insane by the pressures placed on him by the Lord of the Wind, Veldyn
must decide which claims the higher loyalty—his brother and family, his lover, or
his god and the future of his country.

The Cousin of the Wind trilogy
280,000+ words
2001-2002
Cousin of the Wind

Nadeer, an orphan raised at the Four Winds Monastery for healing, has known for years that he
doesn’t belong.  None of the other apprentices can heal injuries with their mind alone, and none
of them can feel the agony their patients are in.  When he heals Eryk, a black-winged Seraph on
the run from the Lycenian slave-traders, the two are linked together in a mental bond that
leaves them constantly aware of each other.  They leave Four Winds to find help, but will they be
able to survive their bond—and each other—in order to find the answers they need?

Cousin of the Earth

Nadeer has finally found his people and his grandfather, Lord Governor Maddren of the Asteri.  It
should be a time of safety and learning, but Nadeer is terrified of using his Healer's gift.  To make
things worse, Nadeer is physically attracted to the Seraph Eryk, but Eryk doesn't share the same
feelings.  Eryk does his best to ignore Nadeer, believing that Nadeer should be able to fend for
himself despite the mental bond they share.  After all, Eryk is working hard at his own studies,
weapons training and diplomacy, and can't understand why Nadeer could so blatantly abuse and ignore
the gifts his goddess has given him.

Nadeer is under so much pressure from Eryk and from trying to live up to the legacy of his father,
the famous Healer Feisal, he seeks solace in arrenswort, an addictive drug that deadens his telepathic
dennar and allows him to continue his apprenticeship at the Infirmary. In an attempt to help, Lord
Maddren assigns Nadeer a tutor, the enigmatic Master Herbalist and Healer, Lerryn.  Much as he
hates using his
dennar at all, Nadeer soon finds that the Healer, and not his cures, may be exactly
what he needs.

As for Eryk, he's about to learn that no place, even the peaceful human territory of
tyr Aster, can
keep him safe from his enemies.

Cousin of the Sea

Eryk and Nadeer can no longer hide in tyr Aster and be safe.  Eryk is growing restless; he may be
the last surviving member of the devastated Seraphic royal family, and much as he hates his
desert homeland and his people, he wants to wrest it back from the half-brother who's stolen the
throne and allied himself with the Lycenians, human invaders from the sea and distant relatives
of both Seraphs and Asteri.

As a compromise, Eryk takes Nadeer back to his childhood home, the monastery of Four Winds.
To Eryk's surprise, he finds several of his elder half-brothers and his blood-brother, Cadvyr,
blind and dejected after his own mistreatment by the Lycenians.  They've all sought refuge at
Four Winds and are biding their time until they have enough strength to attack the Lycenians
and reclaim their homeland.

Their plans are shattered when Nadeer is kidnapped and held prisoner in the desert.  Eryk's life
is also at stake; through their mental bond, he knows Nadeer is being tortured and if Nadeer
dies, so will he. Measures away, Lord Maddren senses Nadeer's agony and rides with his guards to
help, but will they be in time to save the ones he loves?
